  1. Confirm and verify that the species being transported are not protected, restricted or their transportation regulated by any domestic or international entity.
  2. Certify that the animal(s) can enter the destination country without restrictions. In case of doubt, the shipper must contact the destination country's Consulate to learn of any restrictions and ensure compliance with all regulations.

  7. The use of tranquilizers is not recommended for the transportation of live animals. In very rare and special cases where the use of such drugs is necessary, they must be administered in accordance with IATA's Live Animals Regulations Manual and under professional veterinary supervision. If a drug dose is administered, a certificate indicating the following must be attached to the documentation:
    • Scientific (non-commercial) name of the drug administered.
    • The time the drug was administered.
    • Dose administered.
    • Duration of the drug's effects.
  8. Confirm that wild-caught animals have been acclimated to captivity in accordance with the acclimation period established for the specific species in IATA's Live Animals Regulations Manual.
  9. In case of pregnant females, inform LAN CARGO of the situation and confirm that the pregnancy is within the limits allowed. A veterinary certificate indicating that the animal can travel without risk of labor during transportation is necessary.
  10. Plan for and make arrangements with LAN CARGO to determine the most direct route possible.
