Live Animals: Reservations
LAN CARGO only
accepts live animals with a confirmed reservation on all planned routes. In cases
where transport involves more than one airline, proof of arrangements of space availability and
reservation confirmation by all participating carriers is necessary.
Reservations will be made on the most direct routes available, in order to
minimize the number of departures and arrivals, that could eventually constitute violent climate
changes for animals.
When making a reservation, the following information must be provided:
- Air Waybill number*.
- Live animals may not be consolidated with other air cargo, and must therefore,
have their respective Air Waybill.
- Number of pieces that form part of the shipment.
- Weight and dimensions of packages.
- Name of all animal species being transported (in English, as it appears in
IATA's Live Animals Regulations).
- Number of animals per species.
- Departure airport.
- Transit airport(s).
- Arrival airport.
- Flight number and date.
- Recipient name and telephone number.
- Special care required by animals, during transportation and at destination.
To ensure compliance with all the mentioned procedures, print out our
Reservation Checklist.
* The Air Waybill must include a list of all attached documents, in the "Handling
Information" box and must include the following clause: "The shipper accepts that carriers will not
be liable for any loss, damage or expense arising from the death due to natural causes, or death or
injury of any animal caused by the conduct or acts of the live animal itself or the animals, nor
for that caused or contributed to by the conditions, nature or propensities of the animals".
