Pets
Trust LAN CARGO for the safe transportation of your pet.
Requirements
- In order to be accepted for air transportation, Pets must be
at least two months old.
- Provide an original
health certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian stating that the animal is
healthy enough to travel by air, is free of injury, and current on all vaccinations*. The
certificate must be issued ten days or less from the date your pet will be transported.
- All pets must meet applicable government regulations, including those for
Agricultural Institutions at the countries of origin, transit and destination. Permits might be
necessary for entry at destination, or if your pet is an endangered specie. Contact the local
authorities and corresponding embassies for their regulations governing animals.
- You must have
an appropriate cage or kennel to transport your pet. In some locations, LAN CARGO
offers a cage and kennel rental service. Specific guidelines for the acceptance, care, handling and
container requirements are published in the
IATA's Live Animal Regulation Manual.
- Please contact LAN CARGO at least a week before the day you wish to transport
your pet, to make a reservation.
- If you are traveling with one of the LAN Alliance carriers, LAN CARGO can make
arrangements so that your pet travels on your same flight. These reservations must be coordinated
at least two weeks in advance in our
Counters.
- In case of pet transportation within Chile,
other requeriments apply.
* In case of cats, dogs or birds, vaccination must have taken place between 1 and
12 months prior to embarkation.
On the day of the flight

Feed your pet before leaving for the airport.
- Place a diaper or other absorbent material on the cage floor in case your pet
wets the cage's.
- The cage must contain a
water dispenser for your pet's use.
- You must deliver your pet at least 5 hours before the flight's departure on LAN
CARGO's counter.
Before boarding the pet, LAN CARGO personnel will:
- verify that your pet complies with all the transportation requirements
- weigh the pet and measure the cage
- issue an Air Waybill
- charge you for the service
On Board
Your pet will travel at the same cabin temperature as passengers.
The decision to administer tranquilizers must be taken by the pet's owner and veterinarian.
At destination
To claim the pet, the person at destination must follow a standard procedure that
can be initiated before the flight arrival.
Payment
The cost of transportation must be paid at the point of origin. All other costs associated with
your pet's transportation can be paid at origin or destination.
Payments can be made in cash or check. Credit cards are not accepted.
