LAN CARGO announces future incorporation of Boeing 777

LAN CARGO will incorporate two new Boeing 777 aircraft into its cargo fleet. Both airplanes will commence operations during the first quarter of 2009.

LAN CARGO will incorporate two new Boeing 777 aircraft into its cargo fleet. Both aircraft will commence operations during the first quarter of 2009. Furthermore, the Company is currently in negotiations for two additional Boeing 777 freighters that would be integrated into the fleet by 2011, thus, reaching a total of four Boeing 777 aircraft.

LAN CARGO will be the first company in Latin America to operate these world-class freighters, with the largest capacity and the best efficiency performance in its category. The Boeing 777 cargo model has a freight capacity of 104 tons, can travel up to 8,741 kilometers, and possesses the most advanced technology.

Cristián Ureta, CEO of LAN CARGO, stated: "The addition of these new aircraft, positions LAN CARGO on the cutting edge of the air cargo industry, with one of the most modern fleets in the world. This is an important step in advancing LAN's objective to link Latin America with the world, while providing excellent cargo service to our customers".

With the incorporation of these airplanes, the Company's freighter fleet will reach 13 aircraft by 2011 (nine Boeing 767-300F and four Boeing 777).
