FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - International destinations

1.- Is it possible to send international cargo to a personal or corporate address?

No, LAN CARGO's international service is limited to airport to airport transportation.

2.- I need to transport cargo in a specific date and/or flight, what can I do?

In case you need to transport cargo in a specific date and/or flight, LAN CARGO offers two special products with differenciated rates: for international cargo, the " Positive Flight Specific", and for domestic cargo within Chile, CEC or " Cargo Espacio Confirmado".

8.What will happen to my cargo in case of a hurricane in Miami?

In LAN CARGO, we will make the right decisions in order to keep your cargo safe. We will inform through this website about our operation status (flight departures and warehouse opening).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - DOMESTIC ROUTE

CHILE

1.- What are the requirements for pet transportation within Chile?

  • For domestic transportation, documentation is not required.
  • The pet must be at least 3 months old.
  • The pet must be able to stand inside the cage and there must be a distance of at least 10 cms. from its head to the ceiling of the cage. The pet must have enough space to move and turn around inside the cage.
  • Generally, pets are not allowed to travel while sedated. If the veterinarian recommends a tranquilizer for the trip, you must present a veterinary certificate with the written recommendation and administer the dose in the presence of LAN CARGO personnel.

For the transportation of pets within Chile, LAN CARGO offers a cage (i.e. kennel, crate) rental service. For further information, requirements, and restrictions please visit the Pets section.

 
2.- What requirements must I meet to transport my pet from Chile to an international destination?

  • The pet must be at least 2 months old.
  • You must present valid vaccination* and health certificates issued by a veterinarian.
  • You must present a Phytosanitary certificate issued by the national Agriculture and Livestock Department ("Servicio Agrícola Ganadero").
  • You must contact the destination country's Embassy in Chile to determine if there are any additional requirements and comply with these.

* In case of cats, dogs or birds, vaccination must have taken place between 1 and 12 months prior to embarkation.

3.- In addition to the set fare, what additional charges should I consider when sending air freight from Chile?

For Domestic Cargo:

  • Fuel surcharge: CL$ 80 per kilo + VAT
  • Air transport document issuance: CL$ 350 + VAT

For International Cargo:

  • Fuel surcharge (FSC): US$ 0.35 per kilo, with a minimum of US$ 25
  • Air waybill issuance: US$ 10.00
  • Dangerous Goods Transport Surcharge: US$ 85 (in case of connections, surcharge must be paid for every leg)

4.- Is there a surcharge for freight sent "collect" (i.e. for payment at destination) within Chile?

Yes, there is a 10% surcharge on the shipping rate for collect freight.
