LAN: first airline in Latin America to support environmental preservation
agreement.

LAN Airlines is the first Latin American airline to sign the "Green Aviation
Partners" agreement. By supporting this important initiative, LAN committed to the preservation of
the environment and to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
The Green Aviation Partners’ agreement is the first of its kind worldwide. It
was created by IATA (International Association of Air Transportation), is been promoted by LAN and
IATA, and is sponsored by important organizations of the civil and commercial aviation industry
including the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CLAC); the International Civil Aviation
Organization (OACI) and the Latin American Association of Air Transport (ALTA).
The "Green Aviation Partners" program consists of 10 initiatives, including the
incorporation of the environmental awareness in daily decision-making, the improvement and use of
technological resources to encourage environmental support and eco-efficient programs, promotion of
research and development, and the implementation of innovative solutions to reduce the
environmental impact, among others.
The first initiative will be the donation of 500 trees that will be planted in
the Cerro Calan in Santiago, Chile. This activity will be jointly coordinated with "Cultiva", an
organization specialized in reforestation programs.
The funds collected from the "Green Aviation Partners", will go to reforestation
programs in the Cerro Calan.
