LAN CARGO’s affiliate in Colombia will begin operations
February 17, 2008
In March:
LAN CARGO announced today that its new affiliate company in Colombia, Línea Aérea Carguera de
Colombia S.A., received the operational and technical certifications required to begin operations
in that country.
The new company will begin flights in March with two latest-generation Boeing 767-300F
aircrafts and capacity for 54 tons of cargo. The affiliate will offer flights from Colombia to the
main destinations in the region, being Bogota-Miami the most important route.
With an estimated volume of 200,000 tons annually, Colombia is the largest air cargo market
in Latin America with regards to exports to the United States. Thus, the new affiliate may
contribute significantly to the development of this important market by connecting Colombia with
the United States and the region.
To date the company is comprised of a team of 70 highly qualified Colombian professionals and
technicians dedicated to provide an excellent service to the export and import customers in that
country.
The new company will have access to the network of international destinations operated by LAN
CARGO and its affiliates. "We are glad to inform that our Colombian affiliate has successfully
completed the certification process that will allow the beginning of its operations in Colombia.
This important milestone will help to consolidate the company's cargo network offering our
customers a broader coverage with high standards of service and efficiency", noted Cristian Ureta,
CEO LAN CARGO.
