LAN CARGO has facilities at its main operating points, the primary one being at Miami
International Airport. Facilities at this airport,
the largest of a foreign-owned company in the United States, provide transport
services to all cargo travelling to and from Latin America.
The Miami distribution center is divided into two large areas: General Cargo and Perishable
Cargo and operates with
latest generation equipment for manipulation, handling, and storage of cargo in optimal
conditions. The use of advanced technology allows for providing an agile and safe service
to all shipments transiting through LAN CARGO's facilities.
The Perishable Cargo area is subdivided into cold, temperature-controlled, and frozen goods
sections, for the adequate preservation of different types of perishable goods shipments, such as
fish, flowers, and asparagus.
Additionally, at the Miami distribution center a system has been developed using the latest
technology that establishes an agile and extraordinarily safe procedure in handling all shipments
passing through our facilities. From the moment the shipment is received by LAN CARGO, the system
registers each and every piece that passes through the cargo complex, establishing
its characteristics, size, weight, placement on the racks, status, etc.
An important part of this information is in turn shared with the client through our new
e-tracking
, allowing you to be permanently aware of your shipment's location.
General efficiency levels have increased since the development and implementation
of these cargo management systems.
The Miami distribution center also operates with sophisticated
X-ray systems, permanent monitoring systems through advanced
high-definition closed circuit TV
cameras, and
reinforced storage spaces for valuable goods, thus avoiding risks.
Today, the company can proudly say that in Miami it offers
the most modern and high-tech storage facilities with the safest and most sophisticated
cargo management systems. Thus, it can provide service excellence according to the
requirements of each type of shipment and each one of its clients.
The Miami distribution center has served as a model for all the company's facilities in Latin
America's main airports (Santiago, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Lima, and Guayaquil, among
others).
